Mr Rory O'Connor, Chief Executive, Railway Procurement Agency

Rory O’Connor is the Acting Chief Executive of the Railway Procurement Agency, a semi-state agency with responsibility for the delivery, operation and maintenance of light rail and metro infrastructure in Ireland.     He is a chartered civil engineer with a background in project management as well as engineering.  He has worked for the last 34 years on all aspects of major infrastructure projects from design through procurement to construction and commissioning.  These include projects, in Ireland, such as the 900MW coal-fired power station at Moneypoint in the west of Ireland, the extensions of Dublin’s mass transit system (DART) to Malahide and Greystones, the original Luas Red and Green Lines and subsequent extensions to these.   Rory O’Connor also acted as Project Director for the Metro North project, bringing it through the complex planning phase to successfully obtain a Railway Order.     He has also worked as a consultant for ESB International in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
