Henk Waling studied chemical engineering and management. He started his career in 1974 in the food industry. Before joining the public transport sector in the early nineties, he worked as management consultant in various industries.
In Public Transport he worked as Technical Director in Regional and Urban Public Transport Companies, lately in the Municipal Transport Company of Amsterdam(GVB).
Innovative and environmental issues has always been high on his agenda.
Since 2004, as Consultant, Interim Manager or Projectdirector, Henk Waling was involved in several complex projects in the light rail sector like RandstadRail, The Hague, and the NorthSouthLine Amsterdam. During 2012-2014 he was Asset Manager of the rail infrastructure (Tram and Metro) of Amsterdam. Het is now working on issues concerning integral safety policy.
For years Henk Waling was active in national and international working groups.
