Highways UK Story

Highways UK is the must attend for the highways and road infrastructure sector in the United Kingdom. It is the place for market knowledge, innovation and new business, for the entire value-chain.

The industry needs to work together to become smarter, greener, more efficient, and soon, as we all know what the stakes are. That’s precisely why we need Highways UK. Join us in Birmingham in October.

WHY NOW?

  • With net-zero targets set, we need industry-wide collaboration to ensure we are outcome-focussed. Making sure everything we are doing now, will get us to where we need to be

  • Roads, whether national or local, are essential part of the reaching net-zero targets. New major and local schemes need to use the most sustainable and durable materials and processes whilst also facilitating increased demand for active travel and public transport.

  • With public spending under pressure, investment in roads is still essential. We need to continue to make the case for funding whilst also learning to do more with less. The industry needs to harness and implement innovation and digitalisation in processes, project and policies.

  • There is no time for mistakes, we must get this right first time through quality, excellence and innovation across the network and throughout the supply chain. We need to ensure the network is reliable and resilient for the challenge ahead.

  • With an increased cultural awareness of the risks posed by climate change, we need to work on bringing the public into decisions, making policy place-based and user-centric.
