Dirk has a proven track record of fostering product and technical innovation, simplifying the client experience, building innovative systems, and enhancing the performance of complex systems and infrastructures, all of which have been exemplified through his incredibly diverse career in an array of leading, global organisations.
With a doctorate in Law from the University of Mainz and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics, Dirk started his career at law firm Freshfields advising international companies on M&A and Capital Markets.
In 1998, Dirk moved to Allianz Global Investors/PIMCO where he held various roles up to Head of Distribution for Germany & Austria and built the leading fixed income manager in the region for Institutional and Retail clients.
His following role as CEO of BlackRock Asset Management Germany, Austria & EE allowed him to successfully drive double-digit annual business growth through innovative products such as iShares.
Dirk subsequently joined UBS as Chief Operating Officer of Wealth Management, where he was responsible for the operating model and oversight of day-to-day operations at the world’s largest wealth manager. Here, he delivered an industry-first global Wealth Management platform and launched UBS SmartWealth in the UK with an award-winning digital banking experience.
Dirk currently sits as CEO of Savings, Investments & Wealth Management at Barclays UK. He is driving the strategy of the franchise in a market characterised by digital change, new technology channels, and changing client needs.
