Suvania completed her Bachelor’s and Honours degrees at the University of Johannesburg and her Master’s degree at UNISA. She is currently working towards her PhD. Her research focuses water management and acid mine drainage and its socioeconomic impact. In 2017, she published a book on Acid Mine Drainage in South Africa, with Springer. In 2019, she won the Principal’s Award for Excellence in Research from Unisa. Her PhD research is a continuation of the findings included in the book. She has presented papers on her research at several national and international conferences.
