David Stephenson is a Consulting Engineer in Southern Africa and an Emeritus Professor of Water Engineering.
He holds the Degrees of BSc(Eng) (Cum Laude) MSc(Eng), PhD,.and DSc(Eng). He is Professor Emeritus of the University of Witwatersrand, Visiting Professor at Tokyo, Stuttgart, McMaster, Keelung and Botswana. He has published 10 books, 8 chapters in books, 80 Journal papers, 90 Conference papers, and sits on 9 Journal Editorial panels. Books authored by him include Water Resources Management, Water Resources of Arid areas, Pipeline Design for Water Engineers, Water Supply Management, Water Services Management, Stormwater hydrology and drainage.
His Practical Experience as a Director of his Consulting firm includes Water resources assessment and hydrology, planning and design, of dams and hydraulic works in Africa and the Middle east. He was Project leader for studies of the Zambezi and Senqu transfer schemes, and sits as expert advisor to Mozambique, Lesotho and Botswana, and the British Institution of Civil Engineers Expert Panel on Water.
