The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the Australian Government’s primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety.
We protect the Australian people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation through understanding risks, best practice regulation, research, policy, services, partnerships and engaging with the community.
Our Personal Monitoring Radiation Services (PRMS) team play an important role in ensuring the long-term safety of workers who may be exposed to ionising radiation as part of their job.
With many workers in fields such as veterinary, medical, industrial and mining exposed to radiation in the workplace, we monitor the potential ionising radiation exposure and ensure users comply with their radiation licence requirements and keep workers safe.
As a National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited service in Australia, we use the latest dosimetry technology, combined with current robotics technology and image recognising software, to monitor potential exposure. Doses are assessed and reported at our in-house facility in Melbourne, Victoria.
