“Dr Peter Chitty, graduated from the University of Sydney in 1995, and spent 18 months in mixed animal practices in western NSW. He then spent the next 5 years in small animal practice in Sydney and locum in mixed animal practice in Southern England. He became a director of Ku-Ring-Gai Veterinary Hospital in 2002. During this time he commenced and completed a Master in Small Animal Medicine and surgery through Murdoch University in Perth. He commenced employment with North Shore Veterinary Hospital in 2005 and rose to the position of GM of the group and was also the GM of Specialist and Emergency Services of VetPartners Australia in the early stages of the business. During this stage he has provided Veterinary input into the Medical Board of VPA. Over his time he has seen the NSVSC transition from private practice to 3 different corporate owners, and seen one unsuccessful buy out.
The last few years has seen him focus on relocation of a NSVSC business to a purposed $7M built state of the art building in Artarmon. Peter has been intermittently involved in the business modelling of the changes and also the site selection and procurement of this hospital as well as relocation of a smaller GP practice. They have successfully built and opened an 1100m2 building with 4 theatres, 11 consulting rooms, oncology suites, and various procedure bays with 35 car spaces adjacent to Sydney’s main arterial roads. Peter is currently about to embark on the second round of building works, with a MRI, training facility and rehabilitation area. The current staff is 200, across 4 sites, and received referral case load.”
