Michelle Campbell-Ward, Associate Professor in Wildlife and Avian Medicine, University of Sydney

Michelle Campbell-Ward is a wildlife veterinarian, educator and mentor with expertise in conservation medicine, ethics, One Health-One Welfare and nutrition. She is Associate Professor in Wildlife and Avian Medicine at the University of Sydney and has worked for Taronga Conservation Society for over 15 years. She is Australia’s only RCVS Recognised Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine and is proud to work in the University’s dedicated wildlife training hospital. Amongst other leadership roles, Michelle is President of the ANZCVS Zoo and Wildlife Chapter and an executive committee member of the Australian Veterinary Conservation Biologists. Michelle has post-graduate qualifications in both zoological medicine and international animal welfare, ethics, and law and is a board member of Wildlife Health Australia. Her current work activities are centred around ethical decision-making in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and disaster response and she is passionate about promoting excellence in research to help fill the evidence gaps for less well-studied species.
