Gary is a Veterinary Technology graduate from the University of Queensland. As a veterinary technician he began his career in mixed general practice before later accepting a position within the UQ VETS Veterinary teaching hospitals and making his way through the ranks to his current position of Nurse Manager. In this role Gary, manages a large team of nursing and technical staff across the Small Animal, Equine and Production Animal Hospitals. He also performs didactic and clinical teaching of the undergraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students with particular focus on exotic animal nursing and anaesthesia. Gary is dedicated to the growth and development of vet nurses and technicians as a member of the VNCA QLD Division Committee and also sits on the Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician (AVNAT) Regulatory Committee. He also presents to his peers nationally and internationally on topics within exotics, critical care and anaesthesia.
