Nick has a background in cutting-edge innovation & technology research, with leading experience in energy storage, smart grid software, and low-carbon network development.
Nick was responsible for leading Europe’s first large-scale 6MW battery storage project to provide commercial balancing services for UK Power Networks in Leighton Buzzard in 2013. The project published formative work that shaped the nascent UK storage market and informed regulatory and commercial barriers to energy storage in the GB system.
Nick also headed up development of an Energy Storage business at Origami Energy, where he was responsible for establishing new growth in front & behind the meter energy storage.
Nick now leads development of new market-access and service optimisation products for energy-storage and flexibility for Statkraft. Statkraft is Europe’s largest generator of renewable power and operator of a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) optimising over 9GW of flexible capacity across Europe.
