Dan Bentham (MEng CEng MEI Chartered Energy Engineer) has worked in the low carbon energy sector for more than 14 years and is currently the Head of R&D Smart Customers. He began his career in the research and development of novel materials and components for use in hydrogen fuel cell and electrolyser systems. He later joined EDF Energy to develop large scale decentralised energy generation schemes.
During his time at EDF Energy, Dan has held several management positions and is currently responsible for the R&D of future energy systems and technologies. This includes: Smart Cities, Smart Grids, Smart Businesses, Smart Metering, Connected Homes, Low Carbon Transport and Energy Storage for the UK market. There have been various projects Dan and his team have recently contributed to such as Vehicle-to-Go (V2GO) and CommUNITY.
Other tasks Dan has previously been responsible for is the delivery of Energy Performance Contracts (EnPC), the design and construction of on-site renewable generation assets and energy/ engineering consultancy for UK industrial and commercial clients, and the development of residential microgeneration products for EDF Energy.
