MCS is a standards organisation that creates and maintains product and installation standards. This allows for the certification of products, contractors, and their installations. The small-scale renewable technologies covered by MCS are solar PV, battery storage, wind turbines, biomass, solar thermal, heat pumps, and micro-CHP. Associated with MCS standards is the certification scheme, run on behalf of MCS by Certification Bodies who hold UKAS accreditation to ISO 17065. Being MCS certified demonstrates adherence to these recognised industry standards which highlights quality, competency, and compliance. MCS collaborate with working groups which are made up of technical experts in the industry to ensure the standards are up to date and fit for purpose. The standards are written by industry for industry.
