The Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA) has been instrumental in raising awareness about solar photovoltaic (PV) technology in Malaysia for nearly two decades. Established in 2006 with initial funding from the Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic (MBIPV) Project—jointly implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the former Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications (KTAK)—MPIA began with approximately 45 members.Today, our membership has grown to nearly 300 members, reflecting the increasing interest and investment in solar energy.

Over the years, MPIA’s mission and vision have been pivotal in promoting awareness and adoption of solar PV technology among the Malaysian public. As a result of our efforts, the population has become more informed about solar energy and its numerous benefits. This heightened awareness has fostered a more receptive attitude toward sustainable and green initiatives.

MPIA encompasses a diverse membership that spans the entire solar supply chain, including manufacturers, service providers, system integrators, consultants, insurance providers, training providers, academics, and financiers.
Our ongoing initiatives to raise awareness of solar PV underscore MPIA’s commitment to sustainable energy development in Malaysia. Through public engagement, educational efforts, and advocacy for supportive policies, we are helping to cultivate an environment where renewable energy solutions like solar PV can thrive.
