Roundtable #01: Empowering First Nations in the clean energy journey

Day 2 - 27 March @ 11:30

The strategic advantage of conducting ‘right way’ business with First Nations communities, organisations and enterprises

In Australia, conducting ‘right way’ business with First Nations communities in the renewable energy sector provides a strategic advantage by fostering genuine partnerships, securing social license to operate, and ensuring long-term project success. First Peoples bring invaluable cultural, legal, and environmental expertise, essential for sustainable energy development, risk mitigation, and responsible land stewardship.

This presentation will highlight how self-determined, culturally appropriate partnerships not only align with best practice and legal obligations but also enhance project resilience, strengthen investor confidence, and drive economic empowerment. By embedding First Nations leadership and Traditional Ecological Knowledge, businesses can navigate regulatory landscapes more effectively, foster innovation, and contribute to a just energy transition that creates shared benefits for First Nations communities and the broader Australian economy.
