Dr. Maged Mahmoud is the Technical Director at RCREEE. He is responsible for recommending, planning and supervising the management of different RCREEE projects and technical interventions aiming to deploy cost-effective policies and technologies in Arab states and to increase the share of sustainable energy products and services in and from countries in the global market. Dr. Maged has a strong technical experience in sustainable energy transition for over 20 years. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Power Engineering and was awarded in 2001 the “Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research Award for Development and Innovations in Renewable Energy” for his research on solar assisted desalination.
Before joining RCREEE, Dr. Maged Mahmoud worked for the Egyptian New & Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) for 14 years. In his work capacity, he participated in shaping and formulating the Egyptian renewable energy (RE) strategy and preparation of policies and action plans for implementation through governmental organizations and private sector. Dr. Maged has participated in technical planning and developing many important large scale wind energy projects in Egypt, from inception till tendering and contracting.
Dr. Maged Mahmoud is an active member of the League of Arab State renewable energy and energy efficiency committee, where he significantly contributed to setting the Arab RE Framework and the Arab national renewable energy action plan (NREAP) template to implement the Pan-Arab Renewable Energy Strategy. He is currently supervising the technical assistance for Iraq, Lebanon and Sudan to prepare their national RE action plans/ He also participated in several research projects and studies in the sustainable energy fields in collaboration with national and international organizations (WB, IRENA, ESCWA, UNEP, etc.). Dr. Maged Mahmoud is a certified trainer and the author/co-author of over 30 specialized papers and publications.”
