Middle East and North African countries, blessed with masses of open space, are increasingly adopting wind power. As a result, the region’s wind market is witnessing unprecedented developments as competitive tenders drive down costs and attract international investment.
As the population continues to grow (in most MENA countries over 50% of the population is below the age of 25) and as hydrocarbon reserves start to get depleted, the region’s leaders are looking at alternative sources of energy.
Across the MENA region, hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of investment opportunities are emerging, both in renewable energy power production and the wider electricity supply chain.
According to the International Energy Agency, by 2021 renewable capacity in the MENA region will grow by 78% , led by Egypt, the UAE and Morocco. The region is set to attract over $35 billion worth of renewable energy investments annually until 2020.
With installed wind capacity now sitting at almost 500GW globally, 54GW of which were installed in 2016 alone, wind can now generate around 5% of the world’s electricity demand. Nearly 40 GW of new wind-power capacity will be added in the Middle East and North Africa region from 2017 to 2026, with a compounded annual growth rate of 22%.
The Wind Show MENA, which is co-located with The Solar Show MENA, is the renewable energy event the region has been waiting for, and will help to shape the energy market through sharing knowledge, educating the market and facilitating influential meetings.
Bringing together 1000 stakeholders, including leading policymakers, utilities, local industry heavyweights and international technology experts plus a buzzing exhibition, there is simply no better place for you to connect with the industry.
Our mission is to create a forum to be the industry meeting place where industry professionals come and learn how to develop sustainable, clean and bankable world class energy generation projects throughout the MENA region.
Whether you’re looking to bring your turbine technology to the MENA region, understand the regional opportunity around wind energy projects, meet potential partners or showcase your solutions to a thousand attendees, this is the show for you.
Wind power looms large in the future of the MENA region, and The Wind Show MENA is the regional forum you have been waiting for.
