Leading the charge and at Dubai’s favourite Asian street food restaurants WOK BOYZ is its CEO and co-founder Gaurav Sabharwal. Proudly born and bought up in Dubai and after a successful 15-year corporate stint in some of the world’s largest companies, he has embraced his two passions – food and entrepreneurship. 

Whether it was during his student days at York University in Canada or his subsequent travel across the globe for work and for pleasure, Gaurav has always been fascinated by how food and flavours bring us together and create amazing memories. 

Previously as the Head of Business Development for MEA and Turkey for American research firm IDC, Gaurav honed his understanding of the business and consumer dynamics of the region and what makes the region so unique and truly multi-cultural. It also allowed him to spot the gaps in Dubai’s vibrant food scene and what it was missing. 

Whilst on extended leave from IDC, Gaurav began formulating the idea for his passion project. His journey with WOK BOYZ began when him and his dearest friends came across a prime piece of real estate on Sheikh Zayed Road where, coincidentally, all three of them had spent their formative years. Seeing a lack of quality Asian street food being served in Dubai, the trio came together to create WOK BOYZ – serving delicious customisable food in the heart of Sheikh Zayed Road. In just one year, their runaway success has led them to opening another branch in Dubai Internet City to cater to the street food needs of ‘New Dubai’. 

Assuming the role of CEO, Gaurav was tasked with the development and launch of the brand from its inception some 24 months ago to the launch of its second branch and growth beyond. Gaurav firmly believes Everything happens for a Reason, a mantra that serves him well as he now heads a rapidly growing brand within one of the world’s fastest developing markets. Committed to diversifying the street food scene in Dubai with WOK BOYZ and see it grow across multiple locations in the UAE over the next few years, Gaurav is currently working with the co-founders to develop the brand and chart its course to new locations.
