Bonnie Smith, General Manager Technology, FLIGHT CENTRE

I stated my career with Flight Centre 14 years ago. As a young energetic excited travel consultant. I had a passion for seeing the world and after doing my Travel and Tourism Diploma stated my travel journey working as a check in agent at what was then Johannesburg International Airport. After a great journey in the airport life - I decided to make a move to the selling industry of travel. 

Little did I know then that my first day at FCTG would lead to 14 years, 3 countries (RSA, New Zealand and Australia) and many different roles. I have gone from a Travel Agent, team leader, Area Manager, HR (training and development and recruitment) across both Flight Centre Brand and Corporate Manager to my current and favorite position of Technology leader. 

This role in FCTG is made up of IT support, project management, system ownership and all online booking tools for both leisure and corporate customers. My passion for the role comes from a love of technology, travel and customer service. In this role I get to combine all three into one. As the online business is a fast moving market in RSA - I have such excitement for what we will be able to do for our online customers that still gives them the Flight Centre experience.
