Ben Shaw is the CEO of HouseME, a residential rental technology platform that has grown to manage over 1,000 properties across the country in just two and half years. Prior to this, after completing his studies in Finance and Accounting at the University of Cape Town, Ben gained corporate experience at J.P. Morgan Chase in Johannesburg as an M&A investment banker. Ben left the bank in 2015 to found HouseME, having previously founded several other smaller companies in his early twenties.
Ben is an Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Fellow and has worked part-time of the Association of Allan Gray Fellows. He represented SA in the EMEA CFA Challenge in 2014 and has had his trends work featured on Flux Trends since 2013. He has been part of several international startup delegations and has spoken on the topic of property technology at a number of conferences in the past two years.
HouseME now employs 27 people, has operations in 7 provinces across the country and leverages its data-rich tech environment to build out financial services, payments and insure-tech products as value-added services to both its tenant and landlord communities.
