Security Document World - Day 2: Effective, Secure and Effective Border Checkpoints
"Advanced identification technologies and biometrics - transforming the border experience"

The International Aviation (IATA) foresees that the amount of travelers in the world will almost double in the next 20 years. Airports and border control agencies have to take this into account to remain attractive and safe for airlines and travelers. One of the questions that the presentation aims to answer is, which role biometrics, digital identity and physical identity documents will play in order to design a safer and more convenient travel experience. The presentation will also examine the different threats and priorities that air, land and sea borders have to deal with and highlight the importance of implementing complete and tailored solutions to help governments cope with a wide range of challenges. In the presentation, the new e-Immigration program of Tanzania is used as an example to show the attendees of the conference what this country has done to modernize their border control systems and handle their own challenges.
