In December 1991 David Skelley crossed from the practice of architecture to lighting design to explore how light hosts the relationship between people and the built environment, how light shapes perception and forms spatial limits. Since that time, his practice has developed a distinctive design ethos based on “people connection” – how light can link us inwardly to ourselves and outwardly to our community and natural environment.  David serves at the forefront of lighting design, leading the industry with memorable expressions of light in hospitality venues as well as the development of innovative light products such as the battery powered table lamp. He speaks regularly to educate and advocate for better lighting solutions that are in tune with our natural environment.  David’s practice, DJCoalition, operates from 5 locations – Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Brisbane and Sydney – and has completed 2700+ projects across 5 continents.
