Thomas Bitter is leading Volvo Construction Equipment?s (Volvo CE) global research and development organization, which has made major recent breakthrough advances in innovation ? including the first fully electric compact machines, and the introduction of autonomous transport solutions. Leveraging his passion for technology and sustainability, Thomas has a central role in delivering on the Volvo Group?s overall ambition for 2030 and beyond, to build sustainable societies with infrastructure solutions that are 100% safe, 100% fossil-free and 100% more productive. His responsibilities also include bringing to reality Volvo CE?s commitment to science-based targets, directing its technology roadmaps towards being a net-zero emissions company by 2050 at the very latest. A Volvo Group veteran since 1995, Thomas continues to constantly push the boundaries of business strategy and development with a wealth of international and cultural experience from various leading positions across three continents. He started his extensive experience holding technical positions at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), and as a CAD software designer for Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.
