Sandith Thandasherry, the man behind India’s first solar powered ferry, completed his B-tech in Naval Architecture from IIT Madras and pursued an MBA from INSEAD, France. His industrial experience is more than 18 years.
He started his career with Alcock Ashdown in Gujarat as a Naval Architect and later worked in shipyards across South Korea in New shipbuilding projects. After pursuing his MBA he started his entrepreneurial journey with Navgathi which targeted to build small capacity solar-powered boats.
He realized the fact that the commercial sector was primarily attributed to large passenger transport boats. During this shift, Alt.En one of the world’s most experinced electric boat manufacturer joined hands with Navgathi and this lead to the formation of NavAlt in 2013. NavAlt had built Aditya which is hailed as India’s First Solar Ferry and World’s most commercially successful solar ferry. Now NavAlt is engaged in construction of 3 more boats of 75 and 100 pax capacity.
