Robin Gissing is an Innovation Technologist at Heathrow Airport, working in the Chief Technology Office looking at the near, mid and further away technologies that could be utilised at the airport. Robin’s role sees him conducting various trials in and around the airport of new and emergent technology. He is currently also Co-Lead of the Autonomous Vehicle Infrastructure Programme which is looking to enable autonomous vehicles to operate within the airport space. He also engages with SMEs, Start-Ups & academic institutions both locally and worldwide to work on and solve business challenges at the airport.
Particular topics of interest for Robin are Sustainability, Skills of the Future, Industry 4.0, Ethics in Technology and creativity in the workplace. Robin has a background in academia and emerging technology having previously worked as a Technology Enhanced Learning. Advisor in the Health & Wellbeing faculty of a northern University. There he co-chaired a number of regional and national user groups and spearheaded first of type innovative learning experiences to students across the UK. He is also on the Innovation Board at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.
