Alexei Andreev is co-founder and managing director of Autotech Ventures. At Autotech, Alexei leads investments in startups focused on deep tech, AI, electrification, and B2B applications. He has a successful track record of investing in hard-science startups related to both hardware and software and enjoys working with companies that build competitive barriers to entry via fundamental IP or strong network effects. Before co-founding Autotech, Alexei served as managing director of Harris & Harris Group, leading its Silicon Valley office. Previously, he was an associate at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, where he contributed to VC investments in advanced manufacturing, quantum computing, and alternative energy. Alexei has served as a board director or observer of nearly 20 companies, including D-Wave Systems (NYSE: QBTS), Adesto Technologies (NASDAQ: IOTS), Xradia (acquired by Zeiss), NeoPhotonics (NYSE: NPTN) and Molecular Imprints (acquired by Canon and Magic Leap). Alexei holds the following degrees: - Bachelor of Science in Material Science and Solid-State Physics, Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys - Master of Business Administration, Stanford University - Doctoral degree in Solid State Physics, Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys - Candidate in Master of Arts in Liberal Sciences, Dartmouth College In his free time, he enjoys studying quantum mechanics, playing basketball, windsurfing, and surrealist artwork.
