Alex Shapland-Howes, Co-Founder, Tandem

Alex is CEO of Tandem, which he co-founded in 2018 with the aim of ending transport poverty. Tandem is a mission-driven business taking the 21st century transport technologies emerging in big cities – starting with ridesharing – and adapting them for towns and small cities.

Alex has spent his entire career working to tackle social injustice, most notably as Managing Director of the non-profit Future First, which he grew to work with over 20% of all secondary schools nationwide alongside 200,000 community volunteers. Having started his career through the Teach First programme, he remains active in fighting educational disadvantage as a school governor in Newham and a board member of Skills Builder. He holds an MBA from Said Business School, University of Oxford as a recipient of the Skoll Scholarship for Social Entrepreneurship.
