Rachel Huang, Director, Customer & Grid Strategy, Sacramento Municipal Utility District

Rachel Huang is the Director of Customer & Grid Strategy at the Sacramento Municipal Utility District where she is responsible for developing company-wide strategies to bring the customer and the grid together in pursuit of SMUD’s Zero Carbon Vision, which includes distributed energy solutions and grid improvements in light of our resource plan. During her 19 year tenure in the utility industry, Rachel has held numerous leadership roles including oversight for the research and demonstration of innovative and emerging technologies, strategic planning for customer solutions and operations, SMUD’s Customer Experience efforts, as well as New Business Development.

Rachel serves on the board for the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), chairs and represents Region 6 on the American Public Power Association’s Demonstration of Energy & Efficiency Development (DEED) Program Board, serves as the chair of the newly formed Large Public Power Council (LPPC) E-Mobility Task Force, and chairs the EPRI E&SES Sector Council.
