Sandra is a mining engineer from the University of the Witwatersrand. She was born and bred in one of the rural villages of South Africa. She has experience in opencast and underground coal mining as well as open pit iron ore mining. Sandra holds a number of academical accolades from high school and university. She is a registered Candidate engineer with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and is currently working on her research report for Masters in Mineral Economics. She is a Golden Key member since 2008 and the youngest person to win the Standard bank Rising Star awards in the mining and minerals category. She is the chairperson of Wits University Mining Engineers Association (WUMEA) Northern Cape province branch which assists with financial support for needy mining engineering students at the University of the Witwatersrand. She is driven by excellence in all she does and always encourages and inspire others to strive for excellence.
