Bashar AlMalik is the CEO of the Saudi Railway Company (SAR). Before Joining SAR, he was the Vice President of the Saudi Railway Organization (SRO). AlMalik holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a Master’s degree in Construction Management and a PhD in Geotechnical & Transportation Engineering from the USA.
He has accumulated extensive experience in the governmental, private, and academic sectors. In the governmental sector, he held several positions in the design department, land transportation department, and was then appointed as the Traffic & Safety Manager in the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Transport, where he was responsible for ensuring safety measures are accounted for in all roads and public transportation.
He lectured between 2006 and 2010 in several subject as a part time professor at the Civil Engineering Department of King Saud University. He taught several classes to undergraduate students in addition to contributing to the development of the graduate academic program of the geotechnical engineering division.
AlMalik, also, worked for SAR during the period of 2011-2016. Initially, he joined the company as the Civil & Track work manager, then promoted to the position of Projects Director, in-charge of all infrastructure construction activities. He led several teams and managed the implementation and completion of a Multi Billion construction projects such as tracks, structures, stations, yards and workshops, etc.
He has a proven record of handling several infrastructure projects from the planning phase all the way to completion. These projects varied in value but were mostly multibillion Saudi Riyals’ mega projects.
Dr. AlMalik has several publications in the transportation sector. In addition, he is also a board member in the first railway academy in the region (SRP).
