Matteo Battilocchi, Quadrant Laboratory Operations Manager, The Francis Crick Institute

Matteo Battilocchi is a Laboratory Operations Manager at the Francis Crick Institute, where he oversees critical research infrastructure including the Cryostore, Freezer Farm and basement facilities. With over a decade of experience supporting scientific environments at institutions such as King’s College London and the Crick, he specialises in resilience-led facilities planning, cold storage optimisation and cross-functional delivery of complex infrastructure projects. Matteo works closely with scientific groups, facilities and H&S teams, and external partners to develop scalable, compliant and sustainable solutions that protect high‑value research while improving day-to-day lab operations. Outside his role at the Crick, he co-manages LabOpsUK, a national community for lab operations professionals.
