Benoit Berthe, Vice President Of Product Development, IDEMIA

Benoit is the Product Development Vice President within IDEMIA’s Public Security and Identity business unit, based in Paris, France. In his current role, Benoit is responsible for leading innovation and development in the area of civil identity to ensure IDEMIA provides its clients with cutting-edge technologies. Benoit has extensive experience within the smart card industry, serving governments and identity markets. His focus has been on developing innovative security features that follow a resilient security concept—make documents hard to falsify and easy to inspect. An example of Benoit’s work is the development of LASINKTM, a secured color portrait for polycarbonate documents, a highly secured technology developed by IDEMIA. Seven countries already issue LASINKTM credentials for identity cards, driver’s licenses and passports. Benoit also has experience in developing security features such as self-protected personalization and optical machine authentication. Benoit is also currently an active member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) workgroups. Before working for IDEMIA, Benoit was the CEO at Esopp and the Managing Director France at Entrust (ex Datacard) for over ten years. Benoit also has widespread experience within the pharmaceutical industry where he undertook various roles including COO at Smith and Nephew. Benoit is a native French speaker and speaks English fluently. He holds a bachelor degree in Physics from Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon, France. Benoit also holds a degree in Computer Sciences from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France as well as an MBA from Institut d’Administration des Entreprises, France.
