Tracey joined National Highways in 2018 to head the newly formed Social Research and Behaviour Change team. Before that Tracey led research and analysis teams in the Home Office, Department for Transport and Ministry of Justice, providing evidence and insight into a range of issues including stalking and domestic violence; child social care and family justice matters; levels of criminality amongst convicted offenders; road safety and personal travel patterns. She led the family justice grant portfolio at the Nuffield Foundation, where she also helped establish the Family Justice Observatory. Tracey’s expertise as a practitioner started in complex quantitative social surveys, though she is passionate about the value of multi-method approaches and multi-disciplinary teams to generate a rich insight picture to inform policy and practice. During Tracey's time at National Highways she has led a range of research and behaviour change projects that have been designed to improve customers experiences and perceptions - covering issues such as perceptions of safety, work related road risk, novice drivers and space, public trust, delays and diversions, the environment and the digital transformation of travel.
