A whole new way to dig material out of the ground?!..new form factor robotic excavators and upgrades for existing machines to enable electrification and increase productivity. Xcavate Robotics is a robotics and construction technology venture backed by the British Robotics Seed Fund. We have spent the last three years developing and testing a new (patents pending) excavation system that reduces the force, energy and time required to excavate and move earth - compared to traditional hydraulically actuated bucket excavators. The solution in autonomous robot form is currently being trialled on a subterranean space construction project in London. In addition to their own robot, retrofit and OEM variants of the excavation and control system elements will be released in due course with a view to helping fast track the electrification of mobile excavators. Highway construction specific use cases where the solution has significant potential to reduce project cost, time and carbon emissions include general trenching and grading with the most significant gains realisable in larger cut and fill operations. The company is looking to speak with end users (primary and groundworks contractors), hire companies, manufacturers, the media as well as investors in the robotics/property sectors.
