“PRG Scotland Ltd a startup company based in the UK have a process called Continuous Reductive Distillation (CRD) which converts waste tyres into commodities for the circular economy in an environmentally sustainable way. Winners of the 2023/4 Low Carbon Accelerator award, a National Highways funded scheme to Catapult start up projects with Carbon saving innovations to create road construction material. The funding has seen PRG Scotland work with universities and leading Road construction companies to develop Bitumen from Waste tyres. The bitumen from waste tyres has been tested in Asphalt and is showing great promise in performance and its ability to reduce the road constructions reliance up on fossil fuel derived material. The breakthrough will aid the UK National Highways to achieve its long-term objective of Net Zero for Construction Materials while creating a sustainable route for waste tyres once further development is completed.”
