SADS UK

Innovation Zone

The cardiac charity SADS UK provides information and support to families and individuals living with life-threatening cardiac conditions and people who have suffered sudden cardiac arrest.  The charity also supports people who have been bereaved through a premature sudden and unexpected cardiac death.  Professional counsellors and helpers provide support.

The charity distributes ‘The Warning Signs’ to schools and widely in the community, highlighting signs and symptoms that a person may have a cardiac condition and should seek medical advice and treatment if appropriate

SADS UK supports research into conditions that can cause Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).

The SADS UK Big Shock Campaign to legislate to make defibrillators available in all schools and widely in the community has the support of the ambulance services, the charity’s Patron Dr Hilary Jones, Good Morning Britain and Dame Helen Mirren who heads the charity’s defibrillator leaflet.

After meeting with policymakers, SADS UK is pleased that the Department for Education are advising schools to consider the defibrillator as part of their first aid equipment.

SADS UK organises defibrillator cabinets which are widely used by Ambulance services, schools and other organisations.  SADS UK is holding their Tenth Annual National Lifesaver Awards in London this year.
