Fr. Benigno P. Beltran, SVD, is a religious missionary priest of the Society of the Divine Word. Ordained in 1973, he obtained his doctorate in Systematic Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He taught for many years at the Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay City and was guest lecturer in several schools of theology and philosophy in Germany and the US. He worked among scavengers in Smokey Mountain, a garbage dump in the heart of the City of Manila, and engaged in computer-based learning among the out-of-school youth since 1987. He has been doing research into theories of learning appropriate for digital natives and in building personalized and adaptive learning systems using videogames and AI to enhance learning among the poor and marginalized.
