The Makerspace is where school administrators and teachers can better understand the makers’ movement. Participants will get a hands-on experiences with various elements of the maker movement.

Workshop 1: Recycled Paper Automata

February 20, 10am-2pm

The field of robotics can seem daunting; a highly specialized, technical field that requires years of study. Most people don’t realize that you can start learning about robotics with nothing but paper. This workshop focuses on building paper automata out of recycled paper gathered from The Mind Museum.

Level: Beginner – Intermediate By The Mind Museum’s Makerspace Pilipinas Education Team

Maximum capacity: 15 at any given time

Interested participants can drop by the The Mind Museum Makerspace Pilipinas area anytime between 10am to 1pm.

Estimated activity time is 45 minutes. Open to all ages. Children below 9 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Workshop 2: Sustainable IoT + MBot Workshop

February 20, 3pm-6pm

The Internet of Things (IoT) has sparked a new wave of revolutionary advances in the field of technology. Its applications span almost every conceivable field, greatly increasing efficacy of research and data gathering. IoT can also be used to solve problems- this workshop starts with an introduction to programming and coding via MakeyMakey and is coupled with a seminar on using IoT to create sustainable solutions in the fields of energy, agriculture, climate change, and more. Level:

Workshop 3: Sachet Craftsmanship

February 21, 10am-2pm

Plastic pollution is an increasingly severe problem, especially here in the Philippines. Living in a sachet economy means having to deal with a large amount of discarded sachets. This workshop highlights how we can reuse discarded sachets and create usable products out of them.

Level: Beginner – Intermediate By The Mind Museum’s Makerspace Pilipinas Education Team and CoOP

Workshop 4: Soldering Solar

February 21, 3pm – 5pm

Renewable energy is on the cusp of sparking an energy revolution similar to what steam and fossil fuels did. This workshop and seminar demonstrates how a simple, small solar panel can provide enough output to charge something that is considered almost a necessity in our daily lives: our cellphones.

Level: Intermediate – Advanced By The Mind Museum’s Makerspace Pilipinas Education Team

Workshop is FREE, but participants may not take home materials.
