MJ Raatz, Head of Department – Digital Technologies and Business, Forest Lake State High School

Collaborating closely with industry professionals, academic experts, and stakeholders, I have led teams of experts to create comprehensive curriculum programs that combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills in the dynamic field of esports. I have led multiple teams across many sectors, including university and school institutions, to create rigorous and forward-thinking curriculums that positions me as a leader in esports education. I am immensely proud of our accomplishment in establishing the first Esports Diploma at QUT, and I continue to contribute to its ongoing development and success. The introduction of Version 9 Australian Curriculum and the advent of AI in Education has spearheaded my groundbreaking work in developing esports curriculum at a primary, secondary and tertiary level.

My work equips students with the necessary competencies to excel in various esports-related careers, such as esports management, coaching, event organization, and content creation. We work around the pillars of Equity and Excellence to focus on diversity, inclusion and wellbeing while aligning with industry standards, emerging trends, and the evolving needs of the esports ecosystem.

I strive to connect with people to create symbiotic partnerships for the betterment of humanity, with a specific focus on how we can work together to improve student wellbeing and success.  Let's connect and explore how we can make a lasting impact together.
