Leanne Cameron, Senior Lecturer, Education (Technologies), James Cook University

Leanne is most widely known for her work with the use of Digital Technologies, Social Media and integrated STEM programs in education. Leanne is the Immediate Past President of the Australian Council of Computers in Education (ACCE) and the Past President of ICT Educators (NSW). In both these Professional Teachers Associations she has worked hard to develop the professionalism of all teachers of Technology. 

Leanne is currently a Senior Lecturer, Education (Technologies) in the School of Education at James Cook University.

Addressing the Core Concepts of the Digital Technologies Curriculum

'Core concepts are the big ideas, understandings, skills or processes that are central to the Technologies curriculum.' (ACARA, 2021)In this presentation Leanne will unpack the Core Concepts of the DT Curriculum so teachers can ensure they are filtered through Technology lessons in the classroom.
  • How Project-based Learning can be harnessed to manage the practical nature of the Technologies Learning Area;
  • What Systems, Design & Computational Thinking might look like in the classroom; and
  • How to address the General Capabilities of Critical & Creative Thinking and Personal & Social Responsibility in Technologies Learning Area.
