Dr Julie Lindsay, Senior Education Technology Advisor, University of Southern Queensland

Julie is a thought leader in online learning and global collaboration, innovator, teacherpreneur, keynote speaker, and author. She has 35+ years’ experience in K-12 schools and more recently in higher education. She worked in international schools for fifteen years as an educational technology leader across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Her passion is for online global collaboration and she has designed, implemented and sustained online global projects for K-12 levels and customised online collaborative learning experiences for educators and students around the world, including virtual courses and live events. Currently, Julie is the Senior Education Technology Advisor at the University of Southern Queensland where she is a change agent providing advice and advocating for digital transformation through HyFlex learning design to create a robust virtual learning environment. 
Julie is the author of two books: Flattening Classrooms, Engaging Minds and The Global Educator: Leveraging Technology for Collaborative Learning and Teaching. Julie completed a PhD at the University of Southern Queensland in 2019 entitled ‘Online global collaborative educators and pedagogical change’. This research offered innovative insights into educator beliefs, competencies and conceptual change as enablers to adopting a Global Collaborator Mindset and implementing the Online Global Collaborative Learning Framework. She is an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE, 2010), a Google Certified Innovator (2014), a recipient of the ISTE “Making IT Happen” Award (2013), and winner of the ISTE Online Learning Award (2007). In 2020, Julie was the recipient of the Research in Educational Leadership and Management Award from the Australian Council for Educational Leaders.
