MakingSPACE: Strategies and protocols to activate collaborative environments

Although Innovative Learning Environments (ILEs) offer more opportunities for a wider range of pedagogies than traditional classrooms, teachers are often ill-equipped to use these new spaces. This presentation will share strategies developed through interdisciplinary participatory action research (PAR) and Co-design to support teachers in developing their spatial literacy to enhance their use of ILEs.This presentation will:
  • Discuss the context of ILEs between intent and use.
  • Discuss the ecological context of schools which influence the ability for teachers to use space.
  • Share examples of tools developed through the PAR/Co-design methodology which support teachers to enhance their spatial literacy and transition practice in the use of new learning spaces.
