Andrew Grattan, Director of Accreditation and  Professional Learning, Knox Grammar School

Andrew has a Master of Education (ICT in Education) from Macquarie University with a particular passion for STEM education. He was a previous Head of Department in Technological and Applied Studies (TAS), overseeing the implementation of a range of innovative technologies within the curriculum. A current teacher of Stage 6 Engineering Studies, Andrew is the current Supervisor of Marking (SOM) for the NSW HSC Design & Technology course.

Collaborative Professionalism

Research demonstrates that teachers can transform their pedagogical practice, deepen their subject knowledge and improve student performance when they learn together through continuous collaborative inquiry and constructive feedback. Moreover, teachers were more motivated to embrace change when they provided with opportunities to collaborate. At Knox, we have implemented a holistic approach to collaboration from professional learning to instigating new initiatives. Our teachers collaborate in Research and Learning teams working together to analyse the data, implement initiatives and evaluate the impact on student learning.
