Bruce specialises in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Augmented Reality (AR)/Virtual Reality (VR) and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). He has developed an innovative pedagogical approach — ‘Experience Synchronization’ — for rapid upskilling and reskilling. He currently holds the following roles: Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Lead and senior lecturer at the School of Architecture, Building and Design, Taylor’s University, and the Co-Director of VORTEX XR Lab (Action). Previously, he was working as an assistant professor at The School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. Before this, he worked as a lecturer and BIM Lead in the School of Built Environment, University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM). Bruce was also a civil engineer for 4 years working with both civil and structure consultant and contractor firms. During his career in higher education, he has had the special opportunity to educate students from different professional programs such as architecture, civil engineering and quantity surveying. This unique experience has enabled him to better understand the whole construction life cycle and process, later inspiring him to explore BIM as a game-changing approach to integrate and transform the construction industry. He has participated in Autodesk Training Center’s tailored Certified BIM Professional program and acquired Certified Revit Architecture Professional. He has an avid international speaker on Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), and has started and led 2 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) ‘Building Information Modelling 101 and 202’ in Openlearning with more than 7800 students who are mostly practicing professionals. I am also an HRDF certified trainer providing training in digital construction.
