Thanbeer Sekhon, Senior Educator, Desa Mahkota Form Six College

Thanbeer is an active and passionate educator in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is an E-TEACHER ICON Award Winner. This award was conferred by NUTP (National Union of the Teaching Profession Malaysia) and UNITAR International University in 2020 for her expertise in teaching online effectively and engaging with other stakeholders in her teaching to make learning more engaging and meaningful. She was also awarded Excellent Service twice by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. She has a diverse and unique experience as she has served at various levels; national, state, teacher training institute, college, school and international organisations. She is a Master Trainer for CEFR. She has served as an Assistant Director in the Language Assessment Unit at the Examinations Syndicate — MOE Malaysia, a teacher trainer at the Institute of Teacher Education, International Languages Campus and appeared on Malaysian television for an English Language learning programme. She has also been invited as a panellist and moderator in international webinars such as English Olympiad, Bangladesh, World Assessment Council, Pearson Middle East and AsiaTEFL Webinar Series. She continues to engage with these educational organisations in her quest to improve the quality of teaching learning and learning in classrooms. In addition to being a full-time Pre-University Educator at Desa Mahkota Form Six College, Kuala Lumpur, she serves as a committee member for AsiaTEFL Webinar Series and MAE- Malaysian Association for Education Malaysia. She is also an advisory board member for the prestigious BettAsia which is based in the UK.
