Dr. Nina Tan graduated with MBA and Ph.D. in Business Management from Singapore Management University, fortified with a Chartered Accountancy qualification. She was awarded by SMU in the Year 2022 for the social impact that her research on the alignment of leadership behaviors to build and lead high performance teams mindfully, to achieve organizational performance goals. This seminal research culminated in the creation of an innovative AI-powered learning platform. Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, this platform revolutionizes workplace dynamics by elevating leaders' competencies through the analysis of meta-communication cues gleaned from video footage and comprehensive 360-degree competency surveys. Its transformative potential was duly acknowledged when the Singapore Business Review as the Innovation of the Year 2022, cementing Dr. Tan's status as a visionary thought leader. Dr Nina Tan is seen to be one of Singapore’s exceptional business leaders. She was recognized as Singapore Top 100 Entrepreneurs in 2021, after two decades of stewarding strategic business initiatives and spearheading product innovation endeavours across diverse sectors. From high technology to healthcare, telecommunications to chemical industries, her stewardship has consistently propelled organizations towards heightened success. Dr. Tan's commitment to excellence in executive education garnered further acclaim as she was bestowed with the L&D SEA Leader's Award in Year 2023 for being an international prolific executive educator for her lively programs on Entrepreneurship, Finance, Strategy, Innovation, Leadership, and Data Analytics at Singapore Management University. Data analytics is to a large extent propelling the steps in pedagogy reforms. It is making teachers more empowered in the way they make learning effective for students. Learning analytics which is defined as the measurement and dissection of data about learners used to optimise their learning experience can provide powerful tools for teachers in order to support them in the iterative process of improving the effectiveness of their lessons and to collaterally enhance their students’ performance.

The goal of learning analytics is to enable teachers and schools to tailor educational opportunities to each student's level of need and ability to close-to-real time. For students to change and get themselves to adapt to a new way of learning, it is important to help teachers get ahead of that change. With the right kind of learning analytical tool, teachers can surely have a strong grip over each student’s individual needs, capacities and interests.

In this boot camp, participants will develop a solid understanding of fundamental learning analytics theories and processes, and explore different types of educational data. By grasping these fundamental areas, they will have a better understanding of the field of learning analytics and be able to apply skills to improve student learning and school performance. The emphasis is to enable school leaders to improve school operations and for teachers to improve teaching effectiveness, by applying data-driven decision-making in schools.

Workshop participants will:

Understand how to personalise students’ learning process through analysis of classroom data to reveal insights on students’ learning needs, behaviours and mindset
Adopt data visualisation skills to enhance interaction and engagement when communicating with stakeholders, educationists and decision-makers
Understand how to craft learning experiences and design interesting curriculum according to the learning style and preference of the students as well as the teachers
