Jennifer Contreras, Project Lead, Department of Information and Communications Technology

Dr. Jennifer Contreras is a founder of JOCTech ICT Consultancy and Training Services and a faculty member in the Department of Software Technology at De La Salle University - Manila. With over two decades of experience in academia, she had the privilege of teaching and connecting with students from diverse backgrounds across the globe (Libya, Sudan, Malaysia, Sweden, and the Philippines). This journey has exposed her to a rich array of beliefs, cultures, and educational backgrounds among her students. Furthermore, Doc Jen as they call her, at the Department of Information and Communications Technology is leading MOOCS and Learning Management System for reskilling and upskilling projects. She received her Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technology from Al Madinah International University in Malaysia with the dissertation study entitled, “Automated Question Generator for Automated Essay Scoring System using Ontology and Natural Language Processing”. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Computer Science, a dissertation study at the Technical University of the Philippines-Manila entitled, “Hybrid Support Vector Machine and Neural Network for Ontology Learning in Disaster Risk Management”. Her research interests focus on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Mining, and Data science. Within these domains, she has already published various papers collaborating with researchers from local and international backgrounds. Her solid foundation was further enhanced through multi-disciplinary research when she took charge as Director at the Innovation and Research Development Center, where she managed various projects and initiatives to drive innovation and advance the organization's research goals. One of her greatest passions is motivating and empowering her students to excel in their studies. She believes in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and comfortable. Her goal is to not only impart knowledge but also to make the learning process stimulating and engaging. Together, we embark on a collaborative educational journey, fostering a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom
