Michael Kisaka, Director Railway Regulation, Sumatra

Eng.Dr. Michael P. Kisaka has over 33years experience in the railway industry and has held a number of senior positions within the railway mechanical engineering department, Fuel economy management unit, Movable assets management and Safety. He joined the railway industry in 1979 as an artisan fresh from a technical secondary school and rose to principal mechanical engineer by 2002. Dr. Kisaka  worked with Tanzania Railways Corporation in various capacities from 1979 to 2007 before joining Reli Assets Holding Company as Senior Engineer for Movable assets the job he held up to August 2013 when he joined the Surface and Marine Transport Regulatory Authority (SUMATRA) as Director of Railway regulation the position he holds to date.

Eng. Dr. Kisaka is a holder of Honorary Doctorate degree in Business Management from the Africa Graduate University of Kampala Uganda (2012), Masters Degree in Business Administration majoring in Cooperate Management from Mzumbe University Tanzania (2013), Diploma in Mechanical engineering (BSc Equivalent) from the Dar es salaam Technical College Tanzania (1987) and a Full Technician certificate in mechanical engineering from the Technical College Arusha (1982).

Eng. Dr. Kisaka is Public Private Partnerships  (PPP) specialist recognized by Institute of Public Private Partnerships (IP3) Washington USA, a registered Professional mechanical engineer by Engineers Registration Board Tanzania, a senior member of Institution of Engineers Tanzania and a member of Tanzania Society of Mechanical Engineers (TASME). Dr. Kisaka is also a member of Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) head office. 

Eng. Dr. Kisaka as a professional has been involved in several special assignments for the public interest such as:-
1.    Member of Train Accident Inquiry Team by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development
2.    Chairman of Inspection Team for RITES locomotives and Coaches by Ministry of Infrastructure Development
3.    Team Leader of the American Railway experts in Railway Fact Finding Mission by Ministry of Transport.
4.     Team Leader of the Chinese Railway experts in Railway Fact Finding Mission by Ministry of Transport.
