Boon Cheow Yee, Group Director, Rail (E&M), Land Transport Authority

Boon Cheow is a railway professional with more than 23 years of experience. He has been involved in the project management and implementation of various rail projects since 1999:
Completed projects:
(a)    Bukit Panjang LRT (completed in 1999)
(b)    Circle Line (completed in 2009-2012)
(c)    Marina South Pier extension completed in (2014)
(d)    Additional trains for Circle Line and North-east Line (completed in 2016)
(e)    Downtown Line (completed 2013-2017)
(f)    Tuas West extension (completed in 2017)
Between 2007 and 2017, he was overseeing the various systems contracts, i.e. Rolling Stock, Signalling & PSD, Control, Communications, Power Supply, Trackwork and System Integration for the various projects. In 2017, he was concurrently appointed as the Deputy Group Directors for Rail Group and Rail Assets & Operations & Maintenance Group. He oversaw the various rail Electrical and Mechanical projects in Rail Group and the divisions in Rail Assets & Operations & Maintenance Group following the taking over of assets by LTA.
In February 2018, he was attached to SMRT as the Chief Maintenance Officer, overseeing the various maintenance divisions which covers, Rolling Stock, Signalling and Communications, Power Supply, Trackwork and Building & Facilities. He oversaw the rail maintenance and engineering teams in SMRT and led various maintenance, engineering and project process improvements to enhance safety and system reliability in SMRT. 
Upon completion of his attachment to SMRT in April 2020, he was appointed the Group Director for Rail Asset, Operations and Maintenance. His group is taking on the role of the asset steward of the rail infrastructure and operating assets, providing oversight on the Public Transport Operators’ asset management plans and maintenance quality and to plan for timely system asset renewal. His team also works with various groups to implement Life Cycle Management in LTA processes to ensure maintainability, sustainability and long term support of our rail systems.
In October 2021, he was concurrently appointed as Group Director, Rail (Electrical & Mechanical). This group overseas all the Electrical and Mechanical Systems, Services and Trackwork green and brownfield projects undertaken by LTA.
