Mark Wibben, Vice President of Engineering and Programs, Southwest Airlines

Mark Wibben leads the Engineering, Fleet Management, and Maintenance Programs Teams at Southwest Airlines. In this role, he is responsible for the configuration and maintenance program of Southwest’s fleet, with the objective of delivering safe, reliable, and on time aircraft for our Customers.  Mark began his aviation career as a Powerplant Engineering intern at Northwest Airlines in 1996. In addition to his time at Northwest, Mark held engineering positions at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engines and Delta Air Lines, before joining Southwest in 2012. Since then, his roles have included Director of Powerplant Programs and Senior Director of Engineering.  Mark has a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mark and his wife Elly have two children, Violet and Peter. Mark prides himself on curiosity in his work and is an introspective leader who takes time to learn how each individual role and task fits into the overall larger picture.
